Having been racing since the age of thirteen, Ryan Crane has emerged as one of the most all around talented and professional up and coming drivers that there is today. Crane has competed and excelled in every form of racing from go-karts to high horsepower super late models throughout his young career.
The sunshine state native began his career racing go-karts in 1996 in the World Karting Association (WKA) national dirt touring series where he managed to grab two national championship titles, two grand national championships, three Florida state championships, and two North Carolina state championships all over a two year period racing against competitors such as Brian Vickers and John Wood. In 1998 what seemed like a large jump at the time was the right move in the end. Crane got behind the wheel of a late model stock car for seventeen events and recorded eight top-five finishes and fifteen finishes inside the top-ten. During that same year Crane made several appearances in the half size scaled stock car series, the Allison Legacy series where in five starts Crane produced five top-five finishes.
In 2000 through 2002, at just the age of seventeen, Ryan became a regular on the NASCAR All Pro series tour. During this time Ryan was the youngest driver on the tour competing at NASCAR tracks such as Homestead Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, and the famed Bristol Motor Speedway. In his first year of competition Crane just missed the rookie of the year honors by a mere two points over fellow competitor Greg Pope.
Over the next few years Ryan attended and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in business law, making him that much better of a driver to offer other race teams; a driver both smart on and off the track Ryan now had the total package.
In 2006 Ryan posted one of his biggest racing accomplishments of his career by winning one of the largest events to kick off the year, the Rattler 250 at the South Alabama Speedway.
The ’07 season theme seemed to be “just one spot short” as Ryan posted many second and third place finishes throughout the season. It even seemed to carry over to the Blizzard series track championship at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL where the Ryan Crane Racing team tied for the series championships but had to settle for second due to number of wins in the series. However, Crane’s return to the track later in the year made up for any hard feelings has he won 2007 Snowflake 100 pro late model race at the 40th Annual Snowball Derby, one of the most prestige’s race in short track racing. |
